Donald Trump’s recent mugshot has become an iconic symbol and has greatly boosted his campaign’s fundraising efforts. According to US news source Politico, the former president’s campaign has raised an extraordinary amount of money, around $7.1 million, since the release of his photo by authorities.
Following the release of his mugshot by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Donald Trump Jr., the former president’s son, introduced a line of merchandise featuring the image along with the slogan “NEVER SURRENDER!” This merchandise includes T-shirts, mugs, and posters, with all proceeds from sales going to the Legal Defense Fund aimed at countering what they see as troubling developments in the country.
In a recent Twitter post, Donald Trump directed his supporters to his website. The website prominently displays his mugshot and encourages visitors to contribute to efforts aimed at removing President Joe Biden from office and “saving America” during what they consider a challenging period in the nation’s history.
Trump had been charged with multiple offenses related to his alleged attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. He was released on $200,000 bail. Notably, he became the first former or current US president to have a police mugshot taken.
Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis unveiled a 41-count indictment against Trump and 18 of his associates, with 37 additional charges brought against him in Florida. These charges include violating Georgia’s organized crime laws, conspiracy to interfere in an election, perjury, and solicitation of a public official to breach their oath, among others.
This is the fourth set of criminal charges that the 45th US president has faced since the beginning of the year. Federal prosecutors have accused him of various crimes, including plotting to interfere in the 2020 election, mishandling confidential documents after leaving the White House in 2021, and making secret payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during his 2016 election campaign.
