A chilling threat has been issued to the director general of Bangla Academy, leaving the cultural community on edge. The anonymous source, claiming to be a member of the infamous militant outfit Ansar al Islam, has sent a letter warning of a bomb attack at the upcoming Amar Ekushey Boi Mela.
“The sender of the letter identified himself as one Mohammad Saiful. It reached the Bangla Academy yesterday,” Mohammad Jahangir Alam, security officer of Bangla Academy confirmed.
He said, “We have submitted a general diary to Shahbag Police Station.
According to the security officer, the letter was sent through GPO on February 20 after being mailed from Khilgaon Post Office.
He stated, “We have identified the postal office by analyzing the seal on the letter.
The director general has been left shaken by the threatening message and is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of those attending the literary festival.
The possibility of a devastating attack has alarmed the community, and everyone is hoping for a calm and quiet occasion.
