A massive fire raged in the country’s capital within the old markets of Bangabazar at 6:10 in the morning. It took around 600 firefighters to control the fire and they were trying to smother the fire for more than 6 hours.
No deaths have been reported till now. However, 11 people were said to be injured, including five firefighters who were rushed to the burn unit. Luckily no one was in a critical condition. As the markets of Bangabazar are made of tin and timber they are said to be brittle with a fire risk since 2019.
Many shopkeepers have got their dreams crushed as they expected to make a big profit from the festivities of Eid-Ul-Fitr, but now most of their products were lost in the fire for which they incurred a huge loss with over 2500 shops damaged.
For the past few months, it has been seen that broken air conditioners, leaking gas cylinders, and poor electrical wiring frequently result in building fires and explosions in Bangladesh.
