Even though the image that went viral of former US president Donald Trump getting arrested was generated by an AI, there is a chance that his supporters might have to witness him getting handcuffed. And who is to tell Trump won’t be tempted to recreate something similar?
Don’t be surprised if you see a clip of Donald Trump getting chased by the Feds in the streets of New York trying to evade an arrest. After all, it’s all about the theatrics with Donald Trump.
But if he gets arrested, the former president will be fingerprinted and there is going to be a mugshot taken just like any other criminal. He may even be handcuffed.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has been investigating Trump regarding his alleged involvement in a cover-up and hush money payout involving adult film star Stormy Daniels that dates to the 2016 presidential election.
Donald J. Trump is expected to go through the standard procedures of felony arrest proceedings in New York if he turns himself in on Tuesday now that a grand jury has indicted him.
Although it’s customary for individuals accused of felony offenses to be restrained with handcuffs, whether an exception will be made for a former commander-in-chief remains to be seen.
But Mr. Trump will almost certainly be accompanied by armed agents of the U.S. Secret Service, as they are required by law to always protect him. They will have to be with Donald Trump at every step, from the moment he is taken into custody until his appearance before a judge in Lower Manhattan’s imposing Criminal Courts Building.
Mr. Trump’s appearance in court might take a few days. The indictment will remain sealed until his expected appearance on Tuesday when the charges will be publicly announced. The grand jury has now decided to indict him, which means to charge him with criminal offences.
It is customary in white-collar investigations, prosecutors approached Mr. Trump’s defense attorneys after the indictment and negotiated the terms of his surrender.
Bragg and the grand jury’s decision have already come under fire from Trump and his followers, who labeled it as “political persecution and election interference at the highest level in history.”
