Bangladesh on Wednesday reported its first coronavirus death as authorities ordered schools, to be closed for the rest of the month in a bid to keep the pandemic at bay.
A Bangladeshi who tested positive for coronavirus infection, has died, Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora, director of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) reported.
Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora held a press briefing today at IEDCR, where she informed the journalist about the Coronavirus epidemic. She said a patient, 70 years old, who was infected from coronavirus died. She also said that the patient had multiple pre-existing complications like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), high blood pressure, heart problems and diabetes, the director said, adding that he had heart stenting done previously.
The total number of people infected with coronavirus in the country in 14, the director said. A total of 16 people have been kept in isolation while 42 are kept in institutionalised quarantine, she added.
